Roster Random roster. Published 14 days in advance for the next month. Different clusters available (5x), not always respected by rostering department. Minimum 7 off per month, usually 10. (Minimum days OFF in a year: 120)  Mostly overnights. 4-5 days duty usually. No rule set for off-days. Usually 2-3 days but not rare 1 day off only. Commuting is possible and widespread throughout the personnel, but hard. Overnights: A320: domestic + international iaw. network A220: only domestic.

Leave 30 days per year. Leave days absorb off-days as 1 every 3. For example: 7 days off (minimum per month) + 3 days of leave = 9 days not working, not 10 (=3+7-1). 7 days off + 6 leave = 11 days not working (=6+7-2). Leave days are always paid as per contract.

Staff travel On ITA flights since date of join. ZED on MyID Travel after 6 months. CRB (Crew Return to Base): unlimited staff travel (100% free) from residence to Base (FCO/LIN) since date of join, only on ITA flights.

Employment Situation For Pilots

  Current Situation:  
Not hiring nor planned. However high turnover expected on all fleets and roles in the next 5+ years. Company heavily impacted by PW issues. Low morale especially on SH fleet, especially on A220, both FOs and CPTs. A220 crews have the most unstable rosters and salary, roster changes multiple times even during the same day. Many flights are moved to A320 due to A220 unavailability or due to overbooking. Many flights with low load-factor are just cancelled (NAP, FLR, BLQ, even some LIN). Base choice, fleet choice or change, and command upgrades (although rare for the moment) are totally at Company discretion. In 2025 around 20x crews been moved from A320 to A220, based on juniority. Some SH->LH fleet change for senior FOs in late 2025 based on nobody-knows. 22/Nov/25
   
  Outlook:  
Unions unable to reach agreement with Company for new collective labour contract which expired on December 2024. Probably going to strike in December 2025 and on coming months 2026. Many young FOs (both A220 and A320) are leaving (and some already left) for better opportunities in Europe and the Middle East. Lufthansa firm to acquire 90% of ITA in 2026. 22/Nov/25

Entry level 1 No seniority taken into consideration if you have already experience, either on type or not. FO joining from flying school is at the same level of a FO joining with 7/8yrs of experience on 320 or 737. Expect 5 years to become senior FO and expect more 5 years to upgrade. No opportunity to chose either base or aircraft when joining. Expect to sign a contract after you finish the type rating, depending on your performance at the sim, so take into consideration that if you have to resign. Still no agreement to have a raise on the salary after the first was turned down. 2/Dec/23
