8-10 days off per month. Captains working 85+ hrs per month on A320. Training department still cherry picks the best routes for 'training'. Still some problems with late/early trip pairings.
19/Sep/10
Leave
42-48 days per year depending on YOS. Leave bid periods includes monthly RDO's.

Staff
travel
KA/CX,oneworld and other airlines. Staff travel is in the dark ages, paper tickets still issued and must be paid for regardless of use. Refund slow and manually administered. 48 business hours to issue a ticket which must be collected in person.
100% owned by Cathay Pacific (CX). 80% of Dragonair employees either made redundant or transferred to CX. No route expansion, no aircraft orders. No command upgrades in more than two years. CX still undecided on Dragonair (KA) future. 747 cargo operation ceased and taken over by CX. Roster practice agreement in place with bidding system is a vast improvement to rosters. Hotel accommodation is good, crew transport is cheapest bidder and of a poor standard. Layover allowances are too low for polluted expensive Chinese cities and based on cafe crew discount, e.g. 40RMB for breakfast. Health care scheme is basic and does not cover many situations, needs urgent improvement. Majority of routes are mainland China with no expansion of regional Asian routes. Cabin crew are in industrial action against the company. KA gave some concessions to cabin crew conditions to avoid strike action. Pilots requesting payrise due to massive profit announced by CX/KA. One payrise in 10 years does not cover Hong Kong's very expensive living costs and conditions and the current weak HK$ exchange rate. Two week profit share announced after huge profit and crew taking unpaid leave, however unpaid leave returned (Capt got 90% of their money back). Huge amount of operational disruptions caused by weather, maintenance and Chinese ATC. KA barely handles these disruptions and relies on crew to 'sort it out'. Alarming number of maintenance related aircraft problems. Line Capt's are quasi training capt's as mainly fly with 200hr chinese cadets in challenging conditions. Integration talks with CX and CX pilots abandoned.
19/Sep/10
Outlook:
No outlook, CX unable to make a decision on the KA operation. Command time 10+ years. Majority of Capt < 45 yo. Now only hiring Chinese cadets.
